| Introduction |
Tsukichan is a purebred Japanese Shiba Inu with an
exceptional pedigree. Even so, we had no intention of taking her to canine
beauty contests, initially.

In fact, we had never been to the international contests
and exhibitions celebrated in our own town every year, not even as spectators |

Just by chance, and through Alfonso’s Japanese
language teacher, we met our now good friend Roser Feliu of the Lladruc association, .whom as she herself says “has stuck her nose in all topics related to dogs” (pun intended). Roser
gave us the basic notions of “handling” and trained with our Tsuki in earnest. |

So... we decided to enter the Girona 2008
International Exposition, in the puppie class. Tsukichan did
so well that she got top rating. Such a good result encouraged us to go to some
more competitions.

In the non-scoring Contest of Tarragona, Tsukichan won the absolute second place and
in the Igualada National Contest she
got the top grade in the young class.
Everything was going all
right, apparently, but problems started to arise mainly in National and
International competitions. Tsukichan was getting very nervous and refused to
open her mouth. |

We considered very
seriously abandoning the contest scene because she started to dislike it so.
We do not know if we
will continue presenting our baby in competitions and exhibitions in future,
but we are very proud of Tsukichan having won the title:
YOUNG CHAMPION OF CATALONIA 2008 !

We
entered 2009 with mixed feelings about contests, but the judgements in
"The International Exhibition of Girona" have been all but
disappointing, even though Tsuki did get an “1st. Excellent”. |

From now on, we will concur only exceptionally. |
